The Bellagio is the most recent casino in Vegas to fall victim to a robbery. A daring heist, perpetrated by a lone gunman, ended with the robber running off with $1.5 million dollars in chips.
Clad in biking gear, including a helmet with an opaque visor, the man walked inside the Bellagio and drew a fire arm at a craps table at approximately 3:50 in the morning. The helmet prevented his face from being identified.
The man fled on his motorcycle, taking off with an enormous supply of chips that had been kept in the box on the craps table.
Authorities suspect that he or she who commit this crime could also be responsible for the robbery of the Suncoast Hotel & Casino on Thursday morning, where $20,000 in cash was taken by a person wearing a motorcycle helmet.
Surveillance cameras managed only to capture definitive images of the thief’s garb and dimensions. Standing between 5’10 and 6 feet tall, the white male is reported to weigh approximately 220 pounds.
Bellagio officials feel that it will be “extremely difficult” for the burglar to cash in some of the higher value chips, particularly the $25,000 dollar chips.
This marks the 10th casino robbery reported this year, which is one more than last year’s casino crimes.
