New Jersey’s gambling industry is set to undergo some changes due to legislation that has recently been passed. The last step in the legislative process requires signing by Governor Christ, and Christ may soon be announcing his plans for the Atlantic City gambling industry.
Governor Christ Christie is expected to visit Atlantic City on Tuesday to address the legislation that will totally overhaul the tourist destination’s industries of tourism and gambling.
A source at the Christie administration told the Press of Atlantic City that “the governor will be in Atlantic City on Tuesday for an announcement on the Atlantic City related legislation.”
Two bills passed early in January that would overhaul the gambling industry in Atlantic City. one would put the tourism district under the control of a state agency, while the other changes how casinos are regulated.
Online gambling had even been authorized under the legislation. If approved by Christie, the state of New Jersey would be the first to entitle online gambling sites to legally operated in the state. The casino operators who are already established would receive authorization to operate online gambling portals.
