Lucky Gambler Wins $5M Slot Jackpot From Borgata Atlantic City

January 30th, 2011 – by Glen Farmer

A few weeks ago, a pair of gamblers won more than $4 million dollars in separate slots jackpots. Now, for the third time in under two weeks, a gambler has won a mammoth jackpot in an Atlantic City casino.

A man from Ocean County won a jackpot of almost $5 million on Thursday night while playing a penny slot machine at the Borgata Hotel and Casino. The Wizard of Oz Ruby Slippers machine paid out the jackpot when the progressive jackpot symbols showed up on the payout line. Approximately $4,963,819 was won by the gambler.

The man who won the jackpot has preferred to remain anonymous. The two largest jackpots came from progressive penny slots, which share in a jackpot pool with the other casinos in Atlantic City.

While these jackpots do serve as good publicity and public relations, the casinos in Atlantic City are at a point where big wins hurt their overall financial situation. Each of the casinos in Atlantic City have been suffering from lower winnings, and big winning players hurt the casino in times of great financial strife.
