Casino workers have rallied on Biloxi’s beach in order to demand payment from the BP company over catastrophe claims arising from the oil spill in the gulf.
The tourism industry in Biloxi has made the claim that BP’s oil spill has reduced the number of visitors to the region. Casino employees who depended primarily on tips claim they have been damaged by the spill.
Though they make the claim that the BP oil spill has made paychecks and tips shrink or vanish, the BP Company is refusing to pay their claims. The employees took to the streets with placards and posters in order to demand the money they feel is owed to them.
In addition to making the demand, the employees have also been wondering why they were denied, and what factors took part in the denied claims.
BP has stated that their claims administrator will have a sit down with tourism leaders in the region in order to come to an agreement or dismiss the claims made by the casino employees.
Whether or not they will recover damages now could determine whether or not a class action law suit is brought against BP for the spill allegedly being responsible for the reduced wages casino employees are earning.
