Over the last three years, the Tropicana Casino has vastly improved. Due to the improvement under the casino’s new ownership, the Tropicana Casino is set to receive a renewed license for a period of 1 year.
Three years ago, the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City had significantly reduced in quality. Approximately 1,000 workers were laid off, leaving the casino egregiously understaffed. The hotel had ended up so filthy that guests complained of pests and grime.
When billionaire Carl Ichan purchased the Tropicana, he had begun to turn around the Tropicana. The resort has finally begun to show renewed profits, despite the overall recession in the state’s casino gambling economy. The casino had become more clean, staff was rehired to improve the casino’s image, and the Tropicana is beginning to once again shine as a quality gaming center in the state.
The state had once stripped the Tropicana of its license, but the casino is set to resume operating with a casino gambling license. The casino will be issued a temporary license to operate for 1 year.
How the casino will fair in the future is undetermined, as the region has been suffering due to recession and competition. The casinos in Atlantic City are universally struggling.
