Connecticut is now amongst the states which have been contending with reduced casino revenue, according to reports by the Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun.
Foxwoods has been subject to fall off equaling 7.8 percent. The casino’s win fell to $49.5 million from figures a year earlier. This includes Foxwoods Resort Casino and its sister site, MGM Grand at Foxwoods.
Mohegan Sun had also experienced a single digit drop, according to the Connecticut Division of Special Revenue. Mohegan Sun’s win dropped to $55.6 million, which represents a 6.7 percent drop over a year earlier.
The overall intake from slot machines fell 2.1 percent at Foxwoods, reducing to $605.3 million, while Mohegan Sun only witnessed $691.4 million spent in the casino’s slots.
Free play on slots has also been cut by the casinos. Foxwoods reduced free play from $7.5 million to $5.5 million. The Mohegan Sun dropped their free play from $4.6 million to $4.3 million.
“These results reinforce that consumer confidence continues to fluctuate in the current economic climate,” began William Sherlock, Foxwoods’ interim president. “We’ll remain focused on providing our guests with unique and compelling offerings and new amenities…and we are confident this approach will resonate with consumers.”
