Slots revenue for the month of October has been reported by the Foxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand at Foxwoods. These casinos have reported that slot revenue is $57.2 million for the month of October.
The $57.2 million represents an increase in 4.5 percent in the casino’s win, as well as a 9.7 percent rise in total slot play. These are the figures compared to October of last year.
“We’re pleased with October’s results,” began William Sherlock, Interim President of the Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprise, “but given that the economy as a hole still appears to be relatively weak, we remain vigilant and focused on providing the best entertainment value for our customers.”
The Foxwoods Casinos are continuing to thrive despite opposition from the immense growth of the gambling industry in the state. Pennsylvania’s recent incorporation of table games has increased the general competition of the gambling scene in the region. Foxwoods has withstood the competition, unlike Atlantic City which has wavered significantly.
Repeat business is also said to be responsible for the revenue increase in the Foxwoods casinos. Enormous jackpots and a bountiful rewards program have also been cited as major reasons for continued business in the region.
According to the report, over $27,000,000 was paid in jackpots in October.
