Maryland Lottery Reports $11M In Revenue Through October From Perryville Casino

November 8th, 2010 – by Brittney Johnson

According to a report released by the Maryland Lottery Commission, the Hollywood Casino Perryville had generated $11,394,697.61 in revenue through the month of October. This represents the casino’s first full month of operation.

The casino was expected to generate $210 per machine per day, but October’s figures blew away the estimate by nearly $35 dollars per day per machine.

According to the press release, 48.5 percent of the revenue generated went to the Education Trust Fund. A total of $5,526,428.34 went to the the state’s education fund. Hollywood Casino was entitled to keep $3,760,250.21 in revenue.

The Hollywood Casino Perryvile opened in September, and it had generated just over $1 million in the short time it had operated through the end of the month.

Located off of I-95, the casino offers 1,500 slot machines, dining options, but no table games.

The Hollywood Casino Perryville contends with competition from just across the Maryland borders, ranging from Pennsylvania’s extensive new gambling industry, as well as New Jersey’s own Atlantic City. Even Delaware has incorporated table games in order to contend with competition.

The Hollywood Casino still seems to be a strong point for casino gambling in the region. Whether or not it will continue to show results over that which has been anticipated is another question entirely.
