Mount Airy Casino Fined For Underage Gambling

January 7th, 2011 – by Glen Farmer

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has recently slapped Mount Airy Casino with a fine worth $70,000 dollars. The Gaming Control Board has alleged that the casino allowed a pair of underage gamblers in the gaming floor on two different occasions.

The Gaming Control Board has been given Mount Airy Casino its second fine for underage gambling. The previous instance of Mount Airy being punished came in March 2010 when the gaming control board fined the casino for six different instances of allowing gamblers under the age of 21 to participate in casino games.

Mount Airy’s most recent fines came because of an incident on February 28th and August 22nd. On February 38th, a 16 year old female, accompanied by her mother, visited the gaming floor and gambled on slot machines for roughly 53 minutes. A similar incident occurred on August 22nd, where a 15 year old female, also with relatives, gambled on slot machines and table games alike. This female was on the gaming floor for three hours prior to being apprehended not by a casino employee, but by a member of the Gaming Control Board’s Casino Compliance Representative.

In addition to the fine that has recently been levied against the casino, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has recently added three people to the involuntary self exclusion list. Due to these recent additions, a total of ten people are on the involuntary self exclusion list.

The exclusion list was designed in order to prevent pathological, problem, or criminal gamblers from participating in casino games. Two of the three people added to the list were put on due to leaving young children locked in a car while gambling.
