The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has approved two grants to law enforcement agencies in the state. Totaling at $177,488, the grants will be distributed in order to help combat illegal gambling operations in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The Board has approved grants to the Armstrong County District Attorney and the Washington County District Attorney. Armstrong County received $33,488, while $144,000 will go to Washington County.
Under a new law, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is authorized to grant up to $2 million dollars a year to local law enforcement agencies, as well as the Pennsylvania State Police. These funds are supposed to aid in the investigation, enforcement, and prevention of unlawful gambling schemes within the commonwealth. Up to $150,000 may be requested by any local law enforcement agency, while the state police can request up to $250,000.
So far this year, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board contributed $493,248 to law enforcement agencies in the state.
Pennsylvania’s gambling industry has proven to be widely successful. Thriving more than most of their competition, Pennsylvania’s casinos have been generating millions for the state, and subsequently for the reduction of property taxes.
The recent introduction of table games has added to the overall excitement of the state’s gambling choices, which include poker as well.
